Fee
The fees for preparation of design sketches during the site visit can range from $350 to $850. This includes a 2 hour minimum site visit, sketches, travel within the Metropolitan area of Portland. and renovation work on two floors. If your circumstances are different, an affordable fixed fee can be negotiated. Office consultations are also available.

Getting started
A phone call to (503) 774-5005 starts the process. Based on a short discussion of your needs and the description of your project, he will propose a fee. If this is acceptable, Bruce will set up an appointment to meet with you at your house. As an option, he will meet you at your house/site (at no charge) and later prepare a proposal for work based on his visit.

Some of the typical projects include a home remodel master plan, renovating a kitchen or bath, sustainable design, reviewing existing plans for fitting on a site, new house design on a challenging site, and many others.

Site visit
Bruce will sit down with you and other members of your family to discuss your ideas including what you want to achieve with your renovation, budget, style preferences, examples of homes you like, family lifestyle, etc. Bruce will take measurements of your house and prepare rough existing condition drawings. He will return with design sketches of floor plans, elevations and other drawings needed to communicate the design intent. He will also give you a construction cost estimate for your remodeling.

If you are interested in Bruce translating the sketches to a built project, he will prepare a proposal to include design refinement (which can include structuring engineering, interior design,  lighting design, etc) and preparation of construction documents. If you are interested in a complete package of services, he can also include a contract for construction.
